Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
From Last six months I am having stool with Foam. Especially this phenomenon is seen in during morning. I have done thrice antibiotic treatments of Ofloxacin. When I take it for those days foam is less. I always have flatulence problem. Is their any serious concerns?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Foam in the stool for a period of six months in spite of Ofloxacin 3 courses for 6 months needs a clinical evaluation, examination and investigations under the care of a Gastroenterologist. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get the stool tested for three consecutive days. Colonoscopy and biopsy. CT scan of the abdomen. Since Ofloxacin has already been given the cause can be something else other than the routine intestinal infection and will be found on these tests. It is possible that you have developed some sort of intolerance to some of the foods, beverages, preservatives or so; try to identify such things and stop these altogether. Pre and probiotics may be of a great help. Further management will be as per the findings.
