What Causes Fast Heart Beat After Taking Glipizide For Diabetes?
I recently started taking Glipizide for my diabetes - shortly after taking my heart feels a little quick faster than normal - rate at rest when I checked was 72 normally it is around 60-64 - I take atenolol for arythmyia - is the slightly elevated rate okay - it will stop after a period of time.
glipizide may cause heart rate level elevation. Your rest rate is not that high to worry you unless you've got heart disease and symptoms. Since this is a very small variation, it will probably make no real difference. Please note that the heart rate is affected by so many factors that I couldn't tell with confidence which is the cause. Fever, psychological stress, increased physical activity, thyroid dysfunction etc are common causes of heart rate elevation. Did you have any symptoms? If you did then please describe them. It will help to determine the cause. If the cause is glipizide then it is not supposed to stop until you change to another drug. If your blood sugar is OK with glipizide and your heart rate does not cause any trouble to you then you'd better continue taking it. I hope I've addressed your concerns! If you have further questions, please let me know.
Kind Regards!
