What Causes Eye Infection?

Hello I had a question. My wife developed an Eye infection in late august. At first it looked like a normal case of " pink eye". How ever it developed odd symptoms of bleeding in the discharge. SHe had went to Our family Doctor and he had said that it was a bacteril infection gave her a steroid and an antibiotic. How ever since her eye wil get better but then get worse. Our family doctor has said now it might be an eye alergy. But It is the same infection sysmptoms. This last time she develoved a lump under her eye for several weeks. Then when the infection came back again, the lump shrank. We had been sepreated and she was seeing other people and before she came back to me in august, she had un protected sex. Could she have caught an std that infected her eye?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that your wife is having repeated eye infection. This is not likely to be STD infection, hence no need to worry.
We do see recurrent conjunctivitis because of repeated infections.
This needs treatment by the use of antibiotic eye drops or eye ointments and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for examination and treatment accordingly.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Thank you
