What Causes Delayed Period While Tubes Are Tied?

Hi, my concern regards my menstrual cycle.....I ve always been regular up until the last couple of months where my period came a week early before its date and this month I spotted for two days only and that seems odd because I never never miss my period. I had my tubes tied seven years ago after my last pregnancy..I was reading online that this could be due to many factors including early signs of menopause and the other which i m more concerned about is pregnancy. Now, I had the symptoms I usually get before my period but it wasn t what I expected, like I said before I was only spotting....My question is if I should wait another month to see if I get my period or should I just go ahead and get a pregnancy test done???? I would really appreciate an answer thank you..

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Yes delayed period may be due to pregnancy if you have unprotected intercourse.
But it should be confirmed by urine pregnancy kit , 7-10 days after missed period.
Or by blood HCG or USG that is more confirmative.
So if pregnancy is confirmed manage accordingly.

Also note other cause of delayed period:
Peri menopausal state, endometriosis, High level of stress, sudden Change in life style, Late ovulation, Excessive weight gain and loss, Drugs: Birth control pills, thyroid medication, Excessive tea and caffeine, Thyroid problem, Hormonal imbalance.

Advice are below:
Do regular walking and exercise like yoga, stretching and relaxation
Eat healthy diet with vitamin and mineral supplements
Eat fruits like papaya, orange, pineapple
Maintain weight
Avoid stress and anxiety
Use safer sex practice to avoid unwanted pregnancy

Also note that
Menstruation required co ordinate action of various hormone that secreted by ovary (estrogen and progesterone) and brain (FSH and LH).
If any above hormone is decreased or increased there is imbalance in menstruation.
So please do full hormonal profile : Estrogen, progesterone, LH, FSH, HCG and thyroid hormone and
USG, endometrial biopsy
After confirmation you can take treatment according So please go ahead.

Hope this may help you
All the best.
Stay healthy.
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
