What Causes Delayed Menstruation And Diarrhea?

Hi my names Teegan, I'm 21 and I have missed my period twice and I have diarrhea everyday and I have had it for a couple of weeks now, I have taken several pregnancy tests but they have been negative, I also have had three kids and one only 5 months ago, could this be something to do with that ? Or should I be worried ? Pls help.

Hi,
I understand your concern.
*the lactating phase after delivery is associated with irregular periods
-You had missed your periods twice mostly due to this cause . In addition, weakness following , prolonged diarrhea must have added to the cause.
Though it is physiological, I would advise use of suitable contraceptives these days also.
* Diarrhea you have might be due to ,
- digestive deficiency following delivery where change in eating habits/addition of digestive enzymes/ replacement of lactobacillus helps.
- post delivery tonics ( Iron,calcium, extra dairy products may cause diarrhea.
- Bowel infection due to amoeba, bacteria,viral, worms - may lead to daily diarrhea.
Stool examination & culture ( if required) is done to know the exact .cause & treatment is advised accordingly. Consultation of a physician/gastroenterologist is advised.
