If you have always had regular menstrual cycles and are experiencing this delay for the first time, you should definitely go for the pregnancy test. Your symptoms apart from the venous engorgement over the breast, are nonspecific for pregnancy. Home pregnancy tests read well when performed 3-7 days after the missed period with a fresh early morning sample. For an earlier and better clarification, you can go for the blood test. A trans-vaginal sonogram done a few days later clarifies the issue. Hope this helps.
