Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor has prescribed tinidazole for two days yesterday (thursday) and today (friday) for an upset bowel. I told him i would go out and have a few drinks on saturday night(tomorrow) and he said that would be fine but now i read that alcohol should be avoided for three days after treatment. What are the chances that if i drink the night after two days of treatment i will have an interaction? Also i was going to try a weed brownie tonight as i was avoiding alcohol, are there any interactions between tinidazole and marijuana?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Follow your doctor's instructions and avoid alcohol for at least three days after completing treatment with tinidazole. Alcohol can interact with the medication and cause unpleasant side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and flushing.
Constipation is a known side effect of tinidazole. It is possible that you may experience constipation while taking this medication. Make sure to stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet to help prevent constipation.
As for the interaction between tinidazole and marijuana, there is limited information available. It is recommended to avoid using marijuana while taking medication, as the combination can have unpredictable effects. Speak with your doctor about any concerns or questions you may have about drug interactions.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
