What Causes Brown Or Pink Spotting During Pregnancy?

Hello... I am currently 8 weeks 4 days pregnant. I have been spotting on and off since friday night. I had an ultra-sound exactly one week ago and everything was fine (heartbeat was seen, 154 bpm; developing normally). The spotting varies from pink to brownish orange and is only when I wipe (mucous texture). It usually stops during the day and then in the evening, comes back. I have been resting a lot and haven't been to work for the past two days.

Hello dear,i understand your concern. In my opinion the spotting in pregnancy might be due to various causes like cervical bleeding due to polyps, varicosities, erosions, low lying placenta, thyroid abnormalities, progesterone insufficiency, excess physical strain etc.So i suggest you to rule out thyroid abnormalities by thyroid profile, and take progesterone supplements after discussing with your doctor.Take strict bed rest and avoid intercourse.Dont worry.
iIt might subside.
Best regards...dr,srilatha
