What Causes Bloody Stools?

I'm 18 years old and I had my appendix removed a month ago after very bad abdominal pain. Five months before that I had an ovarian cyst removed. Since my appendectomy I've had pains in my back, stomach and right side. Today I found bright red blood in my stool. I'm really worried and I don't know what it's from.
