Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic
At the onset of puberty periods are infrequent. Body takes time to get adapted to female hormones, in short you can say hormonal system in girl's body takes time to mature. Once hormone is secreted regularly periods also become regular. If discharge was not foul smelling and it was not associated with itching then it could be normal physiological discharge. In your case 9 month is quite a long time .Get yourself examined by gynecologist. take care.
