Hello! My name is Sophia and I am a 16 year old. Last summer I had an ovarian torsion in my right ovary. I had emergency surgery, and was lucky enough to keep my ovary. The torsion was caused by a cyst that burst. When the cyst burst it caused an infection. The infection made my ovary swell to the size of a lemon. Since, it was so big it twisted. I have always had extremely irregular periods. They come about every 4-8 months. I have gone a year without one before. Ever since my surgery I have had this constant pain in my lower right abdominal(I think my ovary). It is always tender to touch. Quite often I get this awful pain in my ovary that last a couple of days. It is a dull ache that radiates down my leg and my lower back. It s a 7 on the pain scale. Last night I had this sharp pain in my ovary. It was very unexpected. I decided to go to bed. This morning my ovary is still very tender and achy. I keep getting that shooting pain a few times randomly. I have kinda nauseous today. Is this something that I should worry about? Should I seek some more medical attention. Thanks for your help. Sophia F
As first-line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist you can consult a gynaecologist and get evaluated.
