What Causes A Shadow On The Bone In Spinal X-ray?
I am a 44 yr old woman and have recently started having upper back pain in the spine. I went to my dr today and an x-ray showed a shadow on the bone. My dr did not show me the x-ray, which is unusual (he normally shows me stuff like that) and has ordered a MRI. How likely is it this is bone cancer? No family history of bone cancer, but other non-breast cancers on both father & mother s side of the family..

It may be a hemangioma, a secondary lesion (a metastasis), multiple myeloma, osteoporosis, etc. The MRI will give appropriate information about the diagnosis. Biopsy also may be necessary for a correct diagnosis.
