What Causes A Decrease In Libido Post A Hysterectomy?

My wife had a hysterectomy about 8 years ago, However the ovaries were not removed. . I have found a distinct change in her response to sexual arousal, clitoral stimulation, and intercourse in general... quite disappointing.... General affection like kissing and greeting have become a thing of the past.... She is 60, and I am 6 years older. We used to be electric ...before the operation. Please advise.

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

These are quite common signs and symptoms. After a hysterectomy, one may experience a range of menopausal symptoms, such as:
hot flashes.
mood swings.
decreased libido.
vaginal dryness.

I advised her to take oestrogen pills and lubrication while having sexual intercourse.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
