What Cause Feeling Of Pause And Hardness In Heart Beat?

I get a fluttering feeling in my chest which seems like it lasts for less than a second and then what feels like a hard heartbeat. Sometimes I don't feel the flutter. It will sometimes give me a coughing sensation. I get these Very often. I counted 18 of them in 30 minutes. Besides anxiety I have no other symptoms. What could this be?

Hi,

From your description it seems that you have extrasystolies.
It is type of arrhythmia, when one heart contraction comes earlier and the following comes on time, so you feel a rapid beat, then pause and after normal heartbeats. Sometimes it can cause cough.
Actually some amount of extrasystolies are not dangerous and can be seen in healthy individuals.
Anyway I would advise you to do ECG and holter monitoring, which is 24 hour ECG recording. So the type of extrasystolies and the exact amount during a day can be known. If they are not much, ther is no need for treatment or other interventions.

Hope I could help you

Wishing you good health
