What Can Cause Flickering Lights In The Peripheral Vision?

I suddenly began seeing flickering lights in the peripheral vision of my right eye last night. Today, I had an emergency appointment with my ophthalmologist and after a thorough exam, he determined my eyes were “healthy” with the exception of minor cataracts beginning. (I am 59.) The flickering just started again. Besides the viterous tearing as he described, is there any other causes for this? Should I see a neurologist?

Hi,

Vitreous detachment can cause symptoms and it is totally age related and is benign if retina is okay. I do not think you need to consult a neurologist and slowly you will get adjusted to it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harshita
