What Are The Symptoms Of Pityriasis Rosea?

Hi both my husband and 2 year old are covered in red marks that look like itchy bites. They are itchy according to my husband and are only about 1-2 cm in length, round to oval in shape. Our diet hasn t changed and our pets don t have fleas. My 5 year old and myself don t have any? Is it likely to be Pityriasis rosea?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of Pityriasis rosea, my treatment advice is:
1. Avoid using any new products like soap or perfume.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like Calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
