Hi,

Metrogyl is metronidazole mainly used for diarrhea. It has not been found to be reason for high blood pressure, however just to be sure you should note down your blood pressure once you stop taking this medication and inform the doctor (who gave you Metrogyl) about your complaints.

Depending on your age and life style, your blood pressure may increase, so to control it you must exercise daily and reduce salt intake. Also make a blood pressure chart and measure your blood pressure regularly, it it remains higher than 140/90, you should visit your GP.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiba Tehrim, General & Family Physician
