What Are The Side Effects Of Iud?

Hi, i have gynec question, I underwent MTP in Jan2009 and as per doctors advice IUD was inserted and i was told it can be kept for 5 yrs. i would like to know if IUD can cause any health problems for keeping for such a long period

Age 36 yrs, height 5 feet 6 inches, weight 74 kgs.

Intrauterine device(IUD).
Yes it can be kept for 5 years. If you do not want keep it or if you have side effects like infections,severe abdominal pain then doctor can remove it.
Yes, IUD can causes side effects like spotting in mid of cycle,irregular periods,scanty periods, cramps,breast tenderness, some women complaints increased menstrual flow .

These are not serious side effects.They will disappear shortly.
You need check IUD string periodically to know it is right in place.
You need not worry.mostly it does not cause any serious health problems.

If you have severe abdominal pain , heavy menstrual flow then you need visit a doctor immediately.
