Recently, I have visited a ENT doctor for my right ear which has less hearing problem (Also, I am getting pain when I talking over mobile phone after 5 minutes) when compared to left ear. He performed audiometry tests and XRAY and told that there is a hole in the eardrum and you are affected with CSOM and a surgery (Tympanoplasty) should be done to close the hole and he gave some medicines (T.Orni O and T.Mondeslor) for 10 days and he told the surgery is not urgent right now and ask me to take some time to think and decide and come back after 10 days. Right now, there is only ear wax present in my right ear and there is no pus coming from the right ear after the treatment underwent from a doctor 6 months back. For your information, Pus keeps on coming from my childhood days in my right ear and it stopped after visiting this doctor. I have a few questions as below: 1. Do I need to undergo this surgery (Tympanoplasty). Is it safe? Will I get back my hearing to normal after this surgery? 2. Is there any alternative method (only medicines) to avoid from undergoing this surgery. (Basically, I will be fear to undergo a surgery) 3. In case if I dont undergo this surgery, what will happen to my Right Ear. 4. Is preventing the ear from water keeps the ear safe from forming pus and keeps the hearing in the same state as of now.
