Suggest Treatment For Perforated Tympanic Membrane And Impaired Hearing In Ear

Dr. Bhatti, Namashkar. I have a large hole in my right ear drum. It is there from my childhood. According to my mother, milk got into my ear. Due to absense of appropriate treatment there was infection and I got this hole. Problems: 1. Continuous discomfort in my head which increases in evening. 2. If I move my head normaly or swiftly to right,left,up or down then I get a vomiting feelings. I can not spin my body on my leg. If I do that then I vomit. Same thing happens when I make a air journey. 3. I also get discomfort in my forehead and eyes. 4. Hearing ability of the right ear is a bit less than the left ear. 5. There is continuous low range sound of cricket into my head/ear which become prominent in a quiet situation. 6. Upto about 12year there was secretion from my right year specially when I got cold. After that there was a long gap when there was no secretion. Now there is secretion if something get into my ear like water or get infected somehow. Medicine used 1 year ago: tab. cinazin, tab. phenergan, tab. stemetil, cap. rizelium, tab. furocef My particulars: Age:54yrs. Gender:male, no remarkable problem in other health sector. no diabetis,normal blood pressure. I am a Bangladeshi. Do I need tympanoplasty? If yes then what will be the total cost? Is there any preparation for the surgery like taking some medicine for some days before operation? How many days I have to stay at hospital before and after the operation? Please suggest some medicine to get rid out of this condition. With regards. Ghazi.

Hello,

It may be due to acute suppurative otitis media.

For further assessment you may require complete hemogram, discharge culture after ENT consultation.

You may require antibiotics after consultation.

You may apply antibiotics ear drops after ENT consultation.

Maintain proper hygiene.

Avoid ear piercing.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen
