What Are Light Brown Patches Around The Bikini Line After A Heavy Period?

I recently had a relatively heavy period. Not scary or over-bleeding but lasted about two weeks, normally about a week and sometimes 8 or 9 days. Afterwards I noticed some light brown velvety patches, almost like large freckles connecting, or a birthmark on both sides around bikini line area. They don't hurt or itch or anything.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

In the setting of heavier than normal periods and skin findings that sound like something called "purpura", it might be wise to get these checked out. There are autoimmune disorders that can present as heavy bleeding and a type of "bruising" that look like red raised patches. Call you OB/GYN for an appointment, and I would recommend taking pictures in case the areas are gone before the visit.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
