Upper Abdominal Bloating, Frequent Bowel Movements. Gall Bladder Problems?

I am having upper abdomen bloating, more on the upper right side, very uncomfortable feeling especially after eating the smallest amount of food, or drinking water, and having frequent bowl movements also, it seems to be normal. I am a 67 yr. old female in very good health with no medical problems and is only taking hormones two times a week. Could I be experiencing problems with my gallbladder?

HI,
Thanks for writing in.

Pain and bloating after meals in the right upper abdomen is usually linked to gall bladder problems. This is because the gall bladder is a reservoir of bile which helps in digestion. When you have meals the gall bladder contracts and empties the bile. If there are any stones or sludge in the gall bladder then contractions of gall bladder causes bloating, pain and discomfort.

Please consult a doctor and get clinical examination done. If necessary an ultrasound scan of abdomen might be done.

Hope this helps
