Tot, Has Insect Bites Developing Into Semi-hard Lumps, Clear Fluid Discharge, Increasing In Number. What Should Be Done?

My son is 2 years old now and recently (3 weeks ago) starting having lumps , they look initially like a bite (spider) and then some of them within a space of 3 hrs develop into a semi-hard lump. The doctors thought they were just insect bites before, but they have been coming up with alarming increase, 2 or 3 every two days on different parts of his body... head, side, hands, legs. We were given a lotion which seems to suppress a lot of them in 2 to 3 days at least they mostly do not increase, but occassional 1 does increase. The liquid which comes out of them is clear. His NouNou had something similar on her feet before he started developing them.
