Tonsil Stones And Halitosis. No Help From Any Oral Care Products. Is Tonsillectomy The Only Way?

Hi, I recently saw an ENT specialist for tonsils stones and stubborn halitosis. Feel like tonsillectomy is my only way out of this humiliating and embarrassing problem. Have tried most all oral care products, and to no avail, none have helped the problem. I am 54 yrs. old and seems like this surgery is going to be very painful. I am very apprehensive about going through with this. Any opinions?

Tonsilloliths/stones in the tonsils and chronic tonsillitis will need to be examined by a good ENT surgeon who may prefer conservative therapy with a longer than usual period of antibiotics if possible.The halotosis is probably secondary to the tonsillitis though other causes like chronic sinusitis/lung abscess to name a few may need to be ruled out.Tonsillitectomy in good hands is not very painful.
