Tender Knot On Back Secreting White Pus. Many Red Itchy Dots Under Left Breast. No Relief With Benadryl

Hello, My symptoms started out as an incredibly tender knot on my back that caused pain to touch. I thought it was a very angry pimple so I attempted to pop it, and multiple areas of the knot secreted white and pus. I couldn t bare to try again so I left it alone over night. The next day I had many red itchy dots across the left of my rib cage and under my left breast. They have continued to increase in number and hurt. Also, my chest has gotten a tight feeling only on that left side. I have been taking Benadryl for the last two days and it doesn t seem to help. Any ideas on what to do? I am assuming it is an allergic reaction but I do not know to what... Thank you!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

I can understand your concern for the itching. In my opinion it appears to be either scabies or allergic contact dermatitis. In both these condition there are eruptions along with moderate itching and in more aggravated cases there is appearance of more redness but in scabies there is typically night itching is present.

If I were your treating dermatologist then would have suggested to apply Permethrin 5% cream and hydrocortisone cream and can take by mouth the antihistamine benadryl.

Check for the same type of itching in other surrounding members and suggest the same treatment. The only precaution you must follow is not to touch, pinch pop or squeeze any of them other wise it can get infected and can cause complications.

All the best.
