Sould I Discontinue Amoxicillin?
I m 22 years old, male, 6 2 170lbs. No serious medical history and no history of Penicillin allergies. I was recently exposed to mold in my apartment. I no longer live there and my symptoms (pain, numbness, confusion, anxiety) have been subsiding. I saw a dentist yesterday for a cavity and was put on Amoxicillin for an infection. I started taking the antibiotic yesterday (500mg 4x daily for 10 days) and noticed small red blotches on my chest when I woke up this morning. The blotches have since disappeared; but following this morning s dose I started feeling the same altered mental state I felt while I was in the presence of the mold. I started getting anxious and began breathing rapidly and had what I believe to be a panic attack. I took 2 benadryl and the symptoms started to subside after about an hour. Could this be an allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin? Should I go see my doctor about this or continue with the Amoxicillin regimen? Could I have developed an intolerace to Amoxicillin due to my mold exposure?I m afraid to take my next dose for fear of another reaction. I m going to have a root canal performed in a couple hours. Is it safe for me to discontinue Amoxicillin now? Thank you for your replies.
