Teenager. On Adderall For ADD. Sleep Paralysis On The Days Where Medication Was Not Taken, Bad Insomnia. Side Effects?
Hello, I am a 16 year old girl. I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 15 around February 2013. I started taking 40 MG of Adderall XR every morning in about February/March. I usually take it every day, sometimes i would forget on weekends but that is about it. I have had just common side effects such as no appetite but i learned to deal with it. About 3 weeks ago I had sleep paralysis one night and realized it was the only day i hadnt taken my medication. The sleep paralysis went away the next day after i took it again, but i wanted to see if it was because of that so a couple days later i didnt take my medication and i had sleep paralysis again. I looked online to see if the long term use of the medication could cause it but didnt find much. Also lately i have been having bad insomnia. I sleep for as little as 2 hours every night.

Hello.The drug you are taking is an amphetamine derivative.
The most common side effects are decreased appetite, increased heart rate and blood pressure and insomnia.
It's rare that you have insomnia when not taking the drug
because it is common to have insomnia when taking.
Sometimes can happen that the patient has depression , amphetamine derivatives improve depression symptoms and the depression symptoms appear when you abruptly stop taking the drug (insomnia is symptom very common in depression).
Go to your doctor to rule out depresssion,please.
