Taking Amlodipine Fro BP, Get Mild Swelling On Foot And Around Ankles. Why Is This ?

I am a man of 52 years. I have been taking amlodipine tablets for the past 5 years for controlling my BP. Forthe last 4 months i am taking Amlovas AT (5/50). Now my BP is controlled and it remains around 120-130/80-90. My pulse rate ranges between 65- 72. But problem now is am getting mild swelling on my foot and around the ankles. Is it because of this medicine? should I change over to some other tablet? Kindly advise.

The swelling of ankles is a class effect of all Calcium Channel blocker drugs, the swelling is harmless and does not cause any problem. If it is bothering you,you can request your doctor to change over to betablockers or ACE inhibitors which will not have this problem.however other side effects may be seen with other drugs.
