Taken Regestrone But Periods Not Started. How Long Can I Wait?
I am 26 years old and have a 1 and half year old kid. I am still feeding the kid. Had protected sex but my periods delayed by 2 weeks. Self Pregnancy tests taken twice showed negative. Urine test taken at the clinic also showed negative. Per doctor s advise took Regesterone 5 mg twice a day for 5 days. The course got over 3 days back but still din t get my periods. How long can I wait? What could be the problem?
You can wait for upto ten days after stopping regesterone for periods.
The reason behind no periods could be that you are feeding. The severity with which menses are affected depends on the frequency of breast feeds you give to your child.
As you say you had a protected sex and your urine tests are negative, so pregnancy should not be the reason of your delayed period.
However before using any hormonal tablet like regesterone, an ultrasound is a must.
Now since you have already taken the tablet you can wait for ten days. If your periods do not start then you have to get an ultrasound to rule out other causes like ovarian cysts and pelvic infection.
Take care.
