Suggestion Of Medication For High Blood Sugar Readings

Recently saw an endocrinologist to help with my high BS readings...he put me on an all protein diet, 20 units of Novolog before every meal, no matter the reading, 0.6 Victoza, increased every week (I increased it today to 1.2, and 1.8 next week), Metformin 500 mg ER, 1 tablet first week, increase by 1 every week till up to 4 Metformin, 60 units Lantus at bedtime. It has been hard to keep my BS up. I have a low every day, 3 in 1 day. All I m supposed to eat is meat and green vegies. No rice, no beans, nothing with flower, no fruit, no dairy but I can have eggs and bacon for breakfast. Doesn t it sound like I need to have him adjust my insulin?? I feel awful and have diahrrea also...feel weak and no energy.

Hello,
You must Lower your dose of novolog insulin since you are getting hypoglycemic attacks three times a day.
You can start by lowering 5 units of novolog in all the three doses of the day and then can adjust your dose on seeing the response.
Diarrhoea seems to be due to intake of metformin and shall settle soon.
Do talk to your doctor regarding this and take his opinion.
Thanks
