How Can Severe Pain While On Antiviral Medication Be Managed?
Can a patient with shingles that is currently on an antiviral medication and allergic to sulfa drugs take tramadol for pain medication and is there any cross reactivity with the antiviral medication? What other prescription pain medication would you recommend for severe pain?

Hello,
Acyclovir which has been prescribed to you for shingles and tramadol do not interact with each other so there is no problem in taking these medicines together.
If the only tramadol is not sufficient for the pain, a combination of gabapentin and nortriptyline will certainly help.
