Hi my mother , she is suffering from thyroid . But now the problem is she got very much depressed and lost weight of 7kgs and also she gets stomach pain , and also she has urine infection. since from last 1 yr we had thought she has some gastric problem so we done endoscopy and tried everything . So now i need to know whether tyroid is the main reason for all the problem and if so please let me know wat all things we need to do first?
I can understand your concern regarding to your mother's health. Over active thyroid or hyperthyroidism can be the cause of the weight loss, but I would suggest to repeat the endoscopy to rule out stomach ulcer or any malignancy as the last one is 1 year ago and the symptoms persists.
After that, she should start treatment for the thyroid disorder (depending on the pathology, the hormonal results of TSH, FT4 and FT3) and urinary infection. I would be happy to review your performed tests for another professional opinion.
Hope I have answered your query. I am always at your disposal for any other questions whenever you need.
Wishing all the best, Dr. Mirjeta
