Hello, Thanks for consulting HCM.
All viral fevers, as dengue, almost present the same way - like high grade fever, bone and muscle pains.
To rule out dengue we have dengue antigen test - which are positive from the second day. Dengue serology test become positive from 5-6 days onwards.
In any case, please try to take medicines for fever only (paracetamol) - do not take and pain killers like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac - as these medication lowers down the platelet count at a faster rate and to a lower level. Also try to take as much fluids as you can in any form - water, juices, soups...
Watch for red rashes on your body - if you happen to see any - please try to get hold a physician and get tested and verified, if its dengue.
The platelet count is not a marker to diagnose dengue fever at the initial level - as platelet tend to drop only after few days of fever and mostly when the fever is on the subsiding trend.
Recover soon.

General & Family Physician Dr. Michelle Gibson James's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it may be dengue if you live in an area where this infection is present.

Dengue would cause a fever and muscle and joint pain. It may also be associated with headaches, eye pain and rash.

The flu can also cause fever and muscle and joint pain but would have additional cough and cold symptoms as well.

Since your symptoms have just started you can monitor for now, when there is a clear indication of the illness present you can consider returning to your doctor for a review.
If it is dengue may need a full blood count to check the platelets.

I hope this helps
