hi
I read through your question and understand your concerns.Your condition seems to look like inflamatory bowel disease for which you are currently being treated.

your condition seems to be responding well, but you are not satisfied with your period of remission.

the best way to increase your period of remission is as follows:

-first during flares steroids such as prednisolone are given. These after being given for a long time are withdrawn slowly by gradually decreasing the doses.
(retention enemas with prednisolone tend to work better)during a decreased dosage if the symptoms recur, then you can shift to a higher level of treatment.

-this is quite costly, with infliximab....this is given at 0,2,&6 weeks and there on once in 8 weeks . this treatment provides you with a longer period of remission.

and blood profile is constantly montored for side-effects.

Another option you can use is surgery,

If you are suffering from ulcerative colitis, a complete procto-colectomy with ileo-anal anastamosis will cure your problem.(but not for chron's disease)
but considering your age surgery may be a bad idea.

wish u a speedy recovery...!!
god bless..
