Hi Dr. Sex:Male height:168.5cm age:22yrs weight:65 kg I had a partial tear of anterior cruciate ligament of left knee. Also, dring that inhury I had a fracture in my tibial condyle chip. So, the Dr. had plastered my leg to cure the fracture. He told me that they will check the condition of my ACL tear after the plaster is removed and will decide whether to conduct surgery or not. I want to know can this ACL tear be cured without having surgery

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Arthroscopic repair will be the treatment of choice for ACL injury. As you are young, surgical repair will be the best, non surgical treatment like immobilization and splinting have got poor results and they are usually done in old aged individuals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
