Sir, I am 47 yr old and was taking amcard5 for my blood pressure since last one year and my bp was stable .Recently I got my routine check up done and my bp was 140/100 and my doctor prescribed another medicine cilacar 10 .after taking the new medicine for 10 days my bp is still 140/100 . Pl advice
Hi Welcome to HCM as per your history you are a hypertensive and was on amlodipine 5mg (a calcium channel blocker drug ) for last one year and recently your bp again began to rise and you were shifted to cilacar but no one improvement in bp. Cilacar is cilnidipine a newer calcium channel blocker ( a newer congener of amlodipine) which has got some additional benefits than amlodipine. But the dose equalance of cilnidipine is less, that is 10 mg of cilnidipine is equal to 5 mg of amlodipine. That means you are taking a new drug with some additional features when compared to older drug amlodipine with same antihypertensive strength. So in my opinion you may require dose escalation of cilnidipine or addition of another agent. ( both approach is equally effective). Also ensure your diet contains less salt and saturated fatty acids and you exercise regularly.
Best of luck
Thank you
