Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea With Blood And Mucus In Kid
I have a 5 year old son who has been having some stomach issues. He has had diarrhea for 2 days and now for the last 2 days it has been nothing but blood and mucus. Took him to the doctors and all they did was a urine test and pricked his finger. They sent me home to get a stool sample and I told them the only thing that would come out was blood and mucus they said bring that. So I did and they said they needed more than that and they would see me at 9:30 tomorrow. I am freaking out should I take him to the ER tomorrow instead?
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. It seems your kid is having acute dysentery. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or having green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.
If there is blood in the motion there is need for antibiotic. Meanwhile I suggest you use zinc supplements & ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution).
I suggest you approach your pediatrician for antibiotic prescription.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health. Dr. Sumanth MBBS., DCH., DNB (Paed).,
