Suggest Treatment For Bilateral Wrist Pain

I have bilateral wrist pains that I feel are related to the amount of typing at wk and ultrasound in July showed some fluid around the second extensor tendon left hand which responded well to steroid injection . I used splints at wk however began to get recurrent symptoms . I saw a hand specialist -repeat ultrasound was normal -an MTI scan showed early OA changes in that small cysts were present in the lunate and capitate bones . My wrists ate settling with rest but I am having a battle with wk and may loose job as they are reluctant to agree to voice activation . Have been adv against long term splinting . Am 51 and athetise well -how significant are the bone cysts in the right hand only (tenosynovitis diagnosed left hand ) ?co-incidental finding -are they likely to progress is OA related to excessive typing

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,

About the pain in both wrist joints, see it's more often due to repetitive strain injury while typing continuously.

Need to assess the strength of small muscles of wrist and forearm which are more commonly used in writing and typing work so as it has been diagnosed as cyst near lunate bone.

So I suggest you go for Physiotherapy treatment and take therapeutic ultrasound therapy and IFT therapy for at least 15 days once a day.

Simultaneously exercises to increase strength and flexibility will minimize the reoccurrence.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
