Suggest Treatment For Back Pain In Pregnancy

Hi my wife-(24yrs) has just confirmed her pregnancy(30days). She is having back pain. Can we use a hot pack(rubber bag filled with hot water) on her back during these times. FYI- my wife had her first and only one miscarriage last year. Thanks for the help.

Hello
thanks for using health care magic

It is a good thing that you are seeking medical advice for your wife given her condition. Given that her pregnancy is just 30 days old, it is less likely that the back pain could be due to the pregnancy.

It could rather be due to other causes strain or physical activity etc.

However, crampy abdominal pains could also give the impression of back pain in which case the cause is likely due to the pregnancy.

If does not have per vaginal bleeding, or associated lower abdominal pains then fine and using the hot pack if it can offer relieve will do. However, pain killer like paracetamol or acetaminophene will greatly help.

If pain persist or become associated with other symptoms/signs, she should meet her obstetrician.

Best regards
