Suggest Treatment For An Eye Infection

My 10 year old son says his eyes feel dry but they feel like the outside corners of them stick. They are not particularly red. He is constantly opening his mouth and therefore his eyes so that they corners don't stick...what do you think? allergies? conjuntivitis? dry eyes? weird!
