Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Treatment of acne is guided by the severity of acne.
Topical treatment mainly revolves around three categories of drugs- topical antiacne antibacterials like
clindamycin gel,
nadifloxacin gel; topical
benzoyl peroxide gel and topical retinoids e.g adapalene gel.
Topical antibacterials and topical benzoyl peroxide are antiinflammatory and are effective against inflammatory acne. They can be used once or twice daily only over active acne spots.
Topical retinoids e.g adapalene gel is first line treatment against all grades of acne and is antiinflammatory as well as comedolytic in action.
Topical retinoids also help lighten the spots resulting from acne.
I suggest you to visit a
dermatologist in your vicinity. Your dermatologist will assess the severity of your acne and advice accordingly.
You may also opt for a few sessions of chemical peeling from your treating dermatologist.
Your dermatologist might also start you on
oral antibiotics e.g doxycycline if your acne is inflammatory Or acne that is red, pustular, painful.
