Suggest Therapy For Anxiety

My name is April I started to take some klonopin that was my husbands because I was trying to self medicate during a stressful time, I started out slow at .12 mg 2xday and slowly worked my way up to 1mg 2x day I have only been taking these for about weeks and I no longer want to take them, they are helping my stress but they are not my precription and I am going to eventually run out then I may be even more dependent on them, I know it's wrong and illegal to be taking other peoples precriptions and I feel very badly about that as it is, u am wondering if it would be ok for me to just cold turkey stop taking them, thankyou, and to add to my health I have been having health issues such as trembling and weakness after I excert myself and if I get too hot , my pcp has done a full blood work up and found everything ok as far as thyroid function kindney funtion ANC blood sugars, they did however find that my iron wad low At 9.8 and I did take meds to get thst back up and I am at normal levels now but still feeling the same as far as the shakeyness and weakness, just thought I would throw that in there

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You have low haemoglobin 9.8 and this comes into classification of anaemia. Anaemia is one of common cause of stress and anxiety. So one reason for your stress is anaemia and I would advise you to take Iron and Multivitamin supplements to correct this. You have started taking unprescribed clonazepam and progressed from 0.125 to 1 mg twice daily doses. This has probably made you dependent and now sudden stoppage of use may result in withdrawal syndrome and rebound restlessness and anxiety. I would advise you to take help of a psychiatrist to come off these doses. Gradual tapering of doses is advised for benzodiazepine addiction. Doses are tapered by 20% every two weeks and progressive tapering is done over 6-10 weeks. This method prevent emergence of severe withdrawal syndrome. Visit a psychiatrist for detailed treatment.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
