Suggest Suitable Therapy For Extreme Anxiety

I have been on seroquel xr for a year or more. i ve been without a refill for 5 days, having extreme anxiety, could this be a result of the medicine? Next question. Doctor has given me hydroxyzine 50mg, take 2 for anxiety which hasn t seem to help. Can I take more than two and how often(every 2 hours) or dose you recomend?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Seroquel is qutiapine and this is an antipsychotic drug. Continuous use of this drug for long time and then abrupt stoppage results in withdrawal symptoms. The symptoms like insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, palpitations, dizziness, brain fog etc are seen. Usually symptoms go in about a week but in severe cases anti anxiety medicines or sedatives are needed. Hydroxyzine is a good anti-anxiety medicine and the drug will help in controlling severe anxiety and will help in sleep also. You have already taken 100 mg and as per my opinion for some time you should avoid more doses because it may precipitate severe sedation. Consult your psychiatrist if symptoms persist.
Have plenty of fluids and diets rich in protein and carbohydrates and low in fats. Try relaxation exercises to keep yourself relaxed.
