Suggest Solution For Nausea While Having Glucophage After Hysterectomy

I had a hysterectomy 3 days ago. Prior to that I was told that I have diabetes and have been taking 500mg er glucophage. Since the surgery I have been getting nauseous when I take it. I decided not to take the Glucophage last night and this morning after breakfast my sugar was 121. What should I do?

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear madam i can understand your concern
in my opinion the feeling of nausea is due to side effect of metformin.
in case the nausea is very disturbing and intolerable i suggest you to stop the medication.
i suggest you to consider speaking with your doctor regarding alternatives for your diabetes management.
in my clinic patients who are having similar condition i would like to suggest them to use insulin for a few days.
this kind of insulin usage for short period will increase the patients immunity and help in quick healing of surgical wound.
once the wound is healed i will change insulin to oral pills.
hope you understand
regards.
