Suggest Remedy For Infected Belly Button

My daughter has an infected belly button. The doctor ran tests and says that she has cornebacterium jeikium. How did she get this infection. She is 21 and in college - she does not have any piercings, drug use, etc. She hikes and swims in rivers and lakes.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain infection over the belly button can commonly occur due to poor oral hygiene as this area is more prone to accumulate moisture, sweat and bacterial overgrowth occurs..
As she is a swimmer she is more exposed to water and can be a cause of infection..
Nothing to worry, she can clean the area with an antiseptic ointment and apply a triple antibiotic ointment over it..
She can also apply steroid ointment over the area for reduction in inflammation..
A short course of oral antibiotics can help in faster resolution of infection..
Keep the area dry and clean..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
