Hello,

You have history of blood sugar and you have been taking medicines to control it. Your HBA1C is slightly elevated. Do continue to take the prescribed medicines by your treating doctor. Diabetes triggers urge to urinate frequently. To reduce the frequent urge to urinate avoid taking caffeine and alcoholic beverages. Stay away from stress and anxiety. Avoid drinking too much water. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a Urologist to rule out UTI, overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome, urinary incontinence, STI such as chlamydia, etc.

You will have to get urinalysis (R/E and C/S), USG for a visual image of the bladder and kidneys, X-ray or CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis, neurological and urodynamic tests done. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and the severity of your clinical symptoms assessed. To control ED, cut on smoking and addictions if any. Being over weight and high insulin level may also cause ED. Control blood sugar at all cost, maintain healthy weight. You can take Sildenafil (Viagra) or Avanafil (Stendra) for better erection. Your Urologist can refer you to a Sexologist or counselor / physiotherapist for physical techniques that may help and for counselling.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
