Hello,
From your description of trauma to the head, you should include a full dental exam with x-rays. You need to rule out fractures and abcesses. You will need an x-ray such as a panorex to view the joint. You may require an additional scan. Cone beam may be considered to provide additional information about your TMJ.
I suggest consulting dental specialists, an oral surgeon and an orthodontist. Correction to your bite has many benefits, but you must evaluate the joint for damage. If your bite is stressful or continues to be stressful, you may damage teeth, the joint and not have relief from joint and muscle discomfort. A night guard to break the muscle spasms may offer some relief along with anti-inflammatory medications while you seek further treatment. Reduce stress on your jaw with a softer diet. You should coordinate your dental treatment with your physician and recommended follow up for a concussion.
I am hoping my recommendations offer you some quick relief. Your treatment recommendations may be time consuming.
