Suggest Remedies For Food Stuck In The Soft Palate Between Nose Throat
Hello, this afternoon I had Taco bell for lunch. I believe a piece of my lunch is lodged up inside the soft Palate of my moth between my nose and throat. It has been about 12 hours now. I was just woken up out of my sleep from the pain and I don't know what to do .... what would you recommend?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Lodging of food piece in nasopharynx is throat is rare,It at all this happens it will trigger constant sneezing & the piece will be thrown out. The feeling of something being lodged ,may arise from food being hastily/forcefully swallowed, bringing about friction in the area. This causes little errosion of the epithelium lining throat. Leads to swelling & so the symptom. - do hot saline gargles/vapor inhalation - take a pill Ibuprofenparacetamol for inflammation. -you can stimulate sneezing by putting a cotton thread in nostril If there is no relief, consult an ENT doctor. Thanks
