Suggest Medication For Recurring Oral Herpes

I have white indented sores on the inside of my lower lip. I went to my doctor and he said it was a type of oral herpes and gave me acyclovir. Now it is the third time it is back within 2 months. Is there anything i can do to get rid of them and are they something else besides herpes?

thank you for query.herpes simplex is known for recurrence. When active lesions are there then you can take oral acyclovir 200 mg 5 times a day for 5-7 days.Usually the severity and number decrease as days pass by.When no lesions are present to prevent recurrence acyclovir 400mg daily can be taken to prevent recurrence for a period of 6 -12 months under supervision of doctor. You can get back for any clarifications.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist
