Suggest Medication For Depression And Anxiety

I am 46 years old my height is 171cm & my weight is 75 kg.i am repeatedly suffer from depression.enxiety,disordr,sleeplessness for about 20years,whenever i face this problem earlier doctor prescibed me pexep 20mg/25mg,now i am getting szetalo 10 mg .whenever i recovered i left the medicine ,many times i haven taken pexep 20 mg regular two years,please advice me which is best medicine and should i take the medicine for long time

Hi,

I read your query and do understand your concerns. You seem to be suffering from recurrent depressive disorder. You seem to have responded positively to medications in the past.

Since you have had multiple episodes earlier, it is prudent in your case to continue the antidepressant with which you are getting a response at the same dose continuously. The medications in your case has to be continued for a very long time (years). Generally, if a person has had more than 5 episodes, I would consider continuing medicines for the rest of life.

You are currently on escitalopram (szetalo). If you are recovering with this medicine, it ought to be continued (dose can be raised upto 20 mg/day depending on response). However, if there is no response to escitalopram, changing it to paroxetine (pexep) can be considered as you have shown good response to it earlier.
